Vert de Vin Magazine
On the nose, fruity, fresh, offering depth, a nice stretch, a nice finesse of grain as well as some richness and concentration in subtlety/balance. Notes of bright cassis, violet and more lightly rose with hints of lilac, bright blue fruits, fine hints of anise, aromatic herbs and a subtle hint of vanilla pod and Madagascar pepper. The palate is fruity, elegant and offers a beautiful freshness, a nice definition, precision, gourmandize, a little richness (in freshness and finesse), roundness, subtlety, plenitude, minerality and precision. On the palate it expresses notes of boysenberry, bright cassis and more lightly bright small blue fruits associated with hints of lilac, blueberry, subtle hints of saffron, black tea as well as discrete hints of tonka bean, toast and a discrete hint of toasted hazelnut. The tannins are precise and finely mellow. Good length. Presence of a little chewiness and a subtle sapid point on the finish/persistence. A wine full of finesse, delicacy and plenitude.

James Suckling
Deep and intense notes of plums and blackberries with dark chocolate, toasted spices, walnut, crushed graphite and wet stones. Full-bodied with layers of ripe, velvety tannins that flow in a firm stream throughout the palate. Very structured. Delicious chocolate-wrapped black and blue fruit with spiced character and a really long finish. 60% merlot and 40% cabernet franc.
Jeb Dunnuck
Quite possibly the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, the 2020 Château Canon-La-Gaffelière offers that rare mix of richness and elegance that makes this vintage so compelling. Classic notes of cassis, ripe black cherries, spring flowers, and truffly earth define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied and perfectly balanced, with beautiful tannins and a great finish. This is another stunningly good Saint-Emilion that will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and have 2-3 decades of overall longevity.
Antonio Galloni
The 2020 Canon La Gaffelière is heady, sumptuous and totally exotic. A wine of depth and striking intensity, the 2020 possesses tremendous balance right out of the gate. Ripe red plum, blood orange, pomegranate, spice and leather all meld together effortlessly. There's real presence and depth here. Time in the glass brings out the purity of the flavors. The blend is 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. I can't wait to see how this ages

Top nose, floral, playful, red and dark fruits, spices, mint, a poem. The palate is powerful and precise, very fresh, incredibly fine-grained tannins, sensational length in the finish. This has class. 2026-2045+
Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
In contention as one of the top vintages produced here, the wine is strong on its floral characteristics. Once past the opening bouquet of white flowers and dried roses you find plums, black cherries, black raspberries, mint and cigar wrapper nuances. The palate provides a lush, opulent, as well as vibrant, energetic backdrop for its wealth of deep red fruits and oceanic influences. The finish has a touch of salty chalk that adds complexity to its wealth of silky, ripe, red fruits.
Robert Parker
A blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Canon la Gaffelière offers up inviting aromas of dark berries, plums, burning embers, rose petals, incense and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's suave and perfumed, with melting, powdery tannins and a vibrant core of fruit. As ever, the elevated percentage of Cabernet Franc lends it a singular and compelling style.
Wine Spectator
Ripe, fresh and expressive, with beautiful mulberry, boysenberry and blackberry puree notes that work well with light sanguine, black tea and singed apple wood details throughout. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Alexandre Ma
Decanter
An run of successful vintages at La Gaffeliere, and this again proves why it is an estate to watch, striking an expert balance between power and finesse. Offers a ton of cassis, blackberry, black cherry and damson fruits, licorice root and crushed stone, just gorgeously juicy and stretches out across the palate. Austere tannins at this point, plenty of limestone character, a little tight on the finish but with a velvet texture and promises to age with grace. A yield of 42hl/ha.
La Revue du Vin de France
Wine Enthusiast
This wine's ripe tannins and fine perfumes come from the 40% Cabernet Franc in the blend. The structure is powerful even if masked by the generous black fruits. The wine has great potential.
