The ruby/plum-hued 2022 Château Latour-Martillac offers up a smoking good bouquet of ripe currants, cassis, and assorted blue fruits as well as some classic Graves chocolate, scorched earth, and floral notes. Full-bodied, rich, and textured, it has lots of ripeness yet never goes over the top and stays balanced and lively.

Decanter

Juicy and rich, this is quit concentrated and intense, with dark ripe fruits. I like the intensity here, it's dark and ripe but remains clean and crystalline with lovely purity of fruit despite being dense. Less immediately appealing than some, but this is so slick and charming, creamy, well built with freshness and a sense of definition that is lovely. Still quite compact with liquorice tang but it's good, juicy, serious. Mineral too. Slightly lean, but the tannins really work here and there is such concentration in the fruit that you know they haven't over extracted. A yield of 42hl/ha.

Falstaff

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. Delicate precious wood spice, blackberries, black cherries, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, heart cherries, good freshness, mineral and balanced, a fine, versatile food accompaniment.

Antonio Galloni

The 2022 Latour-Martillac is brilliant. Bright, focused and pulsing with energy, the 2022 is super-impressive. Crushed rocks, white pepper, chalk and blood orange give the 2022 a gorgeous upper register of intensity to play off a core of vibrant red-toned fruit. The 2022 is hugely promising. Tasted two times. Drinking window : 2025-2042

Upon the first taste, this wine unveils its graceful dancer's form, emanating the "classic Bordeaux" essence I expected within velvety body. In contrast to the modest berries of the past years, Château Latour-Martillac 2022 bursts with an array of purple flowers as you raise your glass. The flavors of red bayberry, blueberry, and black goji are remarkably intense, yet the taste remains savory and refreshing. I am so surprised by its acidity with 5.13 TA! The graphite undertones make a subtle appearance during the En Primeurs stage, and I'm confident that after five years of aging, this wine will become even more extraordinary.

Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

Deeply colored, initially you notice, dried roses, blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, pepper, and 5 spice on the nose. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is packed with layers of creamy, elegant, ripe, dark, red fruits with hints of pepper and even some cocoa that comes in at the end of the long, plummy finish. This should age quite nice well, yet be approachable young. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. 14.5% ABV, pH 3.73. Harvesting took place September 6 - September 28. Drink from 2026-2042. 93-95 Pts.

Very polished and focused this year with blackberry and blueberry character, as well as blackcurrants. Medium body. Fine tannins. Lovely length.

Vinous

The 2022 Latour-Martillac has a slightly ripe nose than its peers: candied red berry fruit, orange rind, light loamy aromas percolating through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite thickly-textured tannins, weighty and powerful with cedar and mocha-infused black fruit on the assertive finish. It lacks a bit of finesse now, but I can see this surprising a few people with the wherewithal to cellar for a decade.

91-93/100

Robert Parker

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Latour Martillac displays aromas of cassis, blueberry, raspberry, licorice, menthol, iris and violet. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is perfectly balanced, fleshy in the mid-palate and seamless with a moderately concentrated and elegant texture. The new winery allows for more accuracy during the winemaking process, and it is noticeable.
