"96+ points. The 2021 Léoville Las Cases has turned out beautifully in bottle and clearly numbers among the very finest wines of the vintage." - Robert Parker
"96-98 points. If you’ve ever wanted to know what Las Cases’ Cabernet would taste like without (most of) the Merlot, here’s your chance ... The answer, in a word, is wonderful ... As beautiful a Las Cases as I have had the pleasure to taste en primeur and, for me, the wine of the appellation in the vintage. Like Margaux and, in a slightly different way, Lafite, it embraces and works with rather than struggles against the characteristics of the vintage. Tranquillity, cool perfection and supreme elegance. I find this quite an emotional La Cases. Stylistically, my favourite ever!" - The Drinks Business

Cru Saint-Julien 2021 i trækasse
Wine Enthusiast
The wine's powerful density comes from the black-currant flavors and tannic core. Wood, leather and concentration all show in the aromas. It is a serious, powerful wine with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon.
James Suckling
A classic Leoville Las Cases with blackcurrants, blackberries, stone, graphite and lavender aromas that follow through to a medium body with firm and refined tannins and a juicy finish. Plenty of subtle flavor at the end. Racy tannins. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 15% cabernet franc and 5% merlot. Already very integrated and attractive but will be even better in three or four years.
La Revue du Vin de France
Las Cases 2021 is a wine of remarkable refinement, beautifully structured—not the most intense, but with stunning elegance. An aristocratic wine with impeccably defined tannins and a radiant palate. It displays its signature tannic texture, a hallmark of its style. As is often the case here, this is a wine that will require patience to fully reveal its potential.
Vert de Vin Magazine
The nose is elegant, silky and shows relative delicacy, finesse, complexity, depth and a certain concentration in finesse. There are notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and slightly liquorice stick combined with fine touches of toast, cardamom and slightly fresh/juicy black plum as well as nice minerality, fleshy cherry, discrete hints of bergamot, blueberry, lily and a subtle hint of pepper/vanilla bourbon. The palate is delicate, fruity, elegant, nicely juicy, precise and reveals nice definition, depth, some concentration (in finesse). On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, crushed cassis and more lightly fresh/juicy small red berries combined with hints of lily, cornflower as well as hints of blue plum, liquorice stick, discrete hints of caramelisation, toastiness, fine graphite, toasted hazelnut. A subtle hint of camphor (in the background), a nice minerality/sapidity on the finish. A nice suppleness and sapidity of the tannins. A nice sapid and airy persistence.
Antonio Galloni
The 2021 Léoville Las-Cases is a wine of elegance and restraint. Yes, I am writing that about a young Las-Cases. Perhaps it is the higher level of Cabernet Franc in this year's blend that adds aromatic presence and gives the wine its refined character. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mint, spice and rose petal linger on the delicate, understated finish.

Falstaff
Deep dark ruby garnet with an opaque core, violet reflections, and a subtle lightening at the rim. The bouquet is inviting, offering notes of nougat, black berries, fresh dark cherries, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it’s taut and tightly woven, with lively energy, fine-grained tannins, and remarkable finesse. A delicate sweetness graces the finish, with red cherries lingering on the aftertaste. Promises excellent aging potential for many years, with the Cabernet Franc component adding a distinctive touch.
Alexandre Ma
Maybe it's the 15% Cabernet Franc working its magic...Léoville Las Cases 2021 is thus enveloped by a certain inexpressible mystery throughout. On the first sniff, I was attracted by the lilac scent. The more I smelled it, the more mysterious and addictive I found it to be, making me unable to run away from her charm. The image of hearing the siren singing from afar would be the best matching description. Be it the pure fruit aromas, the concentration, the tannic texture, or the signature graphite scent, they all are perfectly reflected in this vintage. If a blind tasting is to be conducted after 10-20 years of aging, many may find it hard to believe this comes from the sun-deprived 2021. If you want to find an all-around expression of Saint-Julien, Leoville-Las Cases is undoubtedly your first choice.

Strong ruby. The nose is a little drug, super fine, dark and red berries dance in competition, cassis, raspberries, stony notes, violet blossoms on top, highly complex and with a lot of depth. The palate is juicy, fresh, building more and more pressure while remaining highly elegant, with tannins carved in stone, structured and at the same time full of charm, the wine is like a ballet dancer, controlled and focused, with magical harmony and a very long finish. Excellent and with great potential.

A classic Léoville Las Cases
Robert Parker
The 2021 Léoville Las Cases has turned out beautifully in bottle and clearly numbers among the very finest wines of the vintage. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with notions of cigar wrapper, violets and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated with a deep and multidimensional core of fruit framed by beautifully refined tannins and girdled by lively acids, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. Serious and structured without being austere, it's a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and a mere 5% Merlot.

If you’ve ever wanted to know what Las Cases’ Cabernet would taste like without (most of) the Merlot, here’s your chance (and you can play the same game with most of the first growths too). The answer, in a word, is wonderful (and please don’t take that as a criticism of Las Cases’ Merlot in any other vintage). This is serene and profoundly beautiful on the nose. Cool, precise, elegant, suave and sophisticated, with an intense and gracious dark purple and black fruit. It is the very epitome of cool-summer Cabernet (Sauvignon and Franc) – and that, in a sense is the point. We have, too, the florality of the vintage – here violets and a more discrete sensation of spring flowers. With air on the nose – and, again, on the palate (especially when one draws in a little air) – there is an utterly divine intense presence of cedar that both envelops and somehow cosets the dark fruit. Stylistically, my favourite ever!
