Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. A hint of nougat and figs, black berry fruit, ripe plums and orange zest are highlighted. Good complexity and freshness, elegant, fine extract sweetness, integrated tannins, shows length and aging potential.

Extremely well done with a full body and nicely integrated tannins that give this tension and power. The structure is wonderful. Minty. Chocolate-covered coffee beans. Serious but fun.

Deep crimson. Refreshing minerally wine with attractive blackcurrant, mulberry hint mocha aromas. Grainy and bittersweet on the palate with ample dark berry fruits and fresh brambly/ leafy tannins. Cedary at the finish. Very good inky density and mineral length. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 55% new oak). 93-94+

Smoky dark fruits and leafy tobacco are just some of the notes in the 2022 Château Lynch-Moussas, a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced, beautifully layered Pauillac. The tannins here are ripe and polished, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as outstanding length. It's a seriously good wine, if not the finest I've tasted from this château. It's clearly in the same ballpark as the 2018, 2019, and 2020.

The Drinks Business

Onwards and upwards at Lynch Moussas too. Less oaky and with much more precision, detail, finesse and layering than before. This is excellent, if not perhaps with the softness and refinement of tannins of the truly great. But a wine that will age gracefully and express very well its Pauillac typicity. 92-94.

The nose shows its tobacco leaf, cedar, lead pencil and currant side with a single swirl. On the palate, the wine is soft, polished, and fresh, with black raspberries, currants, licorice ,and most importantly, sweetness, and lift to the red berries as well as a nice licorice accent on the back of the finish. Give it a few years in the cellar before pulling a cork, and it will be even better. The wine blends 74% Cabernet Sauvignon with 26% Merlot. 14% ABV. 3.7 pH. The harvest took place September 8 - September 27. Drink from 2026-2050.

Château Lynch-Moussas 2022 is a vibrant Pauillac, with a soft and creamy texture that I believe makes it one of the best vintages in its history. The toasty aromas of oak barrels are more subdued than before, delicately adorned with violet scents and a touch of elegance. The tannins are as silky as threads, with a powdery texture on the aftertaste. The hints of licorice, graphite, and star anise on the finish cleverly enhance its complexity, highlighting the depth of this venerable Pauillac winery.
