“In 2022, Château Pédesclaux received its first organic certification. Though the label has been rejuvenated, the taste remains the familiar Château Pédesclaux I know. Before I could even swirl the glass, a captivating wisteria greets my senses, while blueberries, cherries, and bayberries transformed into tiny bees, playfully dancing around. The sweetness on the palate and the savory notes in the aftertaste harmonize, displaying ethereal beauty. Despite being richer than the 2020 vintage, this wine maintains a delicate presence; if this isn't the "fairy of Pauillac," then what is?”

”Floral and fragrant, really perfumed and scented, inviting, deep and cool. Sleek and silky, the fruit has gorgeous purity and cleanliness, with tannins that are filling and ripe but also have bite and grip. The wine has power but delivered so delicately with tannins that give a sculpted element to the profile with precision and definition. Feels extremely polished, on the tense and straight side, the Cabernet is not so expansive or plush but this feels like it has that Pauillac swagger with lots of life and energy. Very drinkable and impressive from director Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen. 16% press wine, usually 12-13%. New label as of 2022 celebrating organic certification. 3% completes the blend. Total acidity: 3.7. 65% new oak barrels. 3.86pH.”

Fine precious wood spice, fine cassis, floral nuances, some violets, delicate orange zest, attractive bouquet. Complex, juicy, ripe cherries, currants, fresh acidity, mineral-salty, shows very good length, anime style, lemony nuances in the aftertaste, a stimulating companion to food.”

“On the floral edge, with black currants, black cherries, licorice, cigar box and forest floor in the nose, the palate is round in texture. The fruits are fresh, creamy, sweet, ripe and lively, with a finish that is long, and layered with red, black and blue fruits. Give it a few years in the cellar, and enjoy over the following 2 or more decades. The wine is blended using 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. 14.44 % ABV, 3.86 pH. Harvesting took place September 12 - September 22. Yields were 37 hectoliters per hectare.”

The yield was 37 hl/ha and this is the first year that it has been certified organic. The color is deep garnet-purple and the nose needs a fair bit of swirling to coax out evocative notes of blackcurrant cordial, juicy black plums, and black raspberries, with touches of violets, licorice, and wood smoke. The full-bodied palate is concentrated, yet possesses impressive tension and a firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and layered.”

“A property that has undergone a very profound transformation over recent vintage. This is excellent and a step up to a new level. Lovely deep, dark cedary Pauillac, a little Duhart Milon in style, with gracious plump and plush dark berry fruit. Autumnal briary fruits and wild aromatic herbs. It also feels very organic in its energy and brilliance. Walnut and a little nutty creaminess in the mid-palate but not at the expense of the detail. Very impressive. Loaded and layered, yet succulent and soft, with each layer finely delineated by the tannins – offering almost a form of horizontal pixilation. Sapid, salivating, juicy. The best yet. 93-95.”

«A pretty elegant, racy, airy nose, which offers a spicy side, notes of blueberry, fresh blackcurrant and more slightly - cubeb pepper, dense small black fruits as well as hints of racy minerality, ripe wild strawberry /crushed, a fine pint of cloves, fresh blond tobacco and a hint of pepper. The mouth is nicely fruity, juicy, luscious and offers greediness, a mineral/fresh frame, energy, purity and depth, a dark/graphite side, but in subtlety. It expresses notes of pulpy/ripe cassis, dense/juicy dark berries associated with touches of crushed blue plum as well as hints of ripe raspberry, dark chocolate, crayon, bourbon vanilla and fine toasted hazelnut. Nice soft tannins, melting in the mouth. Beautiful freshness, purity, precision, fine grain.”

“The 2022 Pédesclaux was picked 12 to 27 September and aged in 65% new oak. This has far more fruité than the Deuxième Vin, plush black cherries and boysenberry fruit, more floral in style with neatly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, good tension, gentle grip with a graphite infused, powdery-textured finish. A hint of brine on the aftertaste. Very fine, though I would like to see it develop a little more sustain.”
