Intense floral and forward with a bouquet of flowers, wild berries, plum confiture and tobacco. Highly concentrated yet digest and fresh with powdery tannin, lush and savoury fruit with a very long lingering finish.

Dark in color, the wine exudes licorice, smoke, dark chocolate, black pit fruits and cherries. Full-bodied, lushly textured and with a hedonistic, fruit and chocolate filled finish, this will offer a lot of bang for the buck. The wine was made from blending 80% old vine Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Quite classic nose with distinct fruit, reminiscent of ripe blackberries and blackcurrants, juicy black cherries and sweet elderberries. Subtle oak in the background. On the palate ripe yet firm tannins, fine acidity, well-structured with juicy fruit and convincing length, a very mouth-watering style with a certain class.

Decanter

Pumped up but nicely balanced by freshness, this is full of dark fruits and is an enjoyable Castillon, without doubt one of the best of the appellation. Silvio Denz-owned estate, where the natural austerity of Castillon soils works well with the exuberance of his winemaking style.

Falstaff

Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate brightening of the edges. Fine cherry jam, red forest berries, delicate herbs and candied orange zest. Juicy, medium complexity, fine tannins, freshly structured, mineral, fine sweetness in the finish, already well developed, versatile.

Vinous

The 2019 Cap de Faugéres has a typical Fronsac bouquet with dense blackberry,briary and melted tar aromas that kind of shut the door in your face for broaching it premanturely. I don't mind that - it's still delineated and develops an appealing loam character. The palete is medium-bodied with quite hard tannins, a board-shouldered and grippy wine in the making with a potent briny finish. It will certainly require several years in the cellar, but it is still a Fronsac with character.

Always a good value, the 2019 Château Cap De Faugeres is another winner, giving up plenty of juicy dark fruits, new leather, dried herbs, and floral hints as well as a medium-bodied, fleshy, fruit-forward and delicious style on the palate. It's going to keep for a solid decade or more.

“The nose is fruity and offers power, a finesse of the grain. It reveals notes of cassis, lily, small notes of small wild fruits associated with small touches of grey pepper as well as a discreet hint of spices and cocoa. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a juicy/finely acidulous frame, gourmandize, suavity as well as a good definition, tension and a good structure. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy cassis, small black fruits, small notes of lily/cornflower associated with fine touches of pulpy black plum, crushed raspberry as well as hints of cardamom, tonka bean and toasted."

This is a young red with serious concentration of fruit for the appellation, showing blue fruit and hints of dried mushrooms and salt. Full-bodied.
