"The 2019 Lafon-Rochet, which was picked from 25 September to 5 October, requires a little coaxing from the glass, eventually unfurling with blackberry, bilberry, violet and light crushed stone/clayey scents that is quintessential Saint-Estèphe. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, fresh and saline in the mouth, old school in the best sense of that expression. No, it is not the most flamboyant Lafon-Rochet, but it is imbued with a sense of nobility and classicism that I much admire. Tasted three times with consistent notes" - Vinous

"A wine I don't get to taste as often as I'd like, the 2019 Château Lafon-Rochet is based on 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc from deep, gravelly soils in Saint-Estèphe. Deep purple-hued, with a great bouquet of ripe black and blue fruits intermixed with classic cedar pencil and tobacco, it's medium to full-bodied, has a balanced, elegant texture, silky tannins, and a great finish. It shows more floral and chocolaty notes with time in the glass and its purity of fruit is straight-up top notch. As with most 2019s, it's going to have plenty of upfront appeal yet should age effortlessly as well" - Jeb Dunnuck

slottet från 1600-talet bytte ägare otaliga gånger innan det köptes av familjen Tesseron Cognac 1959. Samma Tesseron-familj som senare lade till Pontet-Canet i sin portfölj. Lafon-Rochet ligger nära Pauillac, i klyftan mellan (2. Cru) Cos d'Estournel och (1. Cru) Lafite Rothschild. Lafon-Rochet var länge ganska rå och Cabernet-dominerad i stilen, men en större andel Merlot har gjort vinet smickrande även i unga år. Idag leds Lafon-Rochet av Michel Tesseron och hans son Basile, i nära samarbete med Jean-Claude Berrouet, tidigare vinmakare på Pétrus.
