Amazing aromatics: violets, pure black fruits, dark cherry. The palate is pure, vibrant and fruity, yet nicely structured. Almost perfect. Dense yet fresh and superbly fruity. 97/100
Revista Adega, Melhor Vinho
Displays aromas of ripe red and black fruits, almost compote-like, along with pronounced notes of sweet spices and hints of flowers, minerals, toast, liquorice and tobacco. Fruity, structured and intense, it stands out for its delicious acidity, almost grainy tannic texture and a juicy, full and long finish, with lingering notes of plums and chocolate. Alcohol: 20%
Wine Spectator
This is a giant of a wine lurking behind fresh flowers and ripe fruit. Starts off in a friendly way, then takes hold of the palate, with intense blueberry and blackberry fruit and chewy yet fine tannins. Mouthpuckering, but impressively complex and long. Really kicks in on the finish. The best Taylor since 1994. Best after 2020.
Gismondi on Wine
Spicy, floral, black cherry, black plum, peppery, chocolate, spicy, herb aromas. Rich, inky port with big concentration and somewhat tannic, very full but fresh and juicy palate. Big black cherry, blackberry, licorice, peppery, plum, chocolate flavours. Long, elegant, silky finish with great acidity and freshness. Less is more; all to be revealed in decades. One to lay down for your grandchildren. Delicious now but will live for 50 years easily.
Wine Enthusiast
Enticing violet and black currant aromas are followed by ripe plum and spice flavors. Maybe this isn't the most powerful Taylor Fladgate vintage ever, but it is balanced, opulent, beautifully made, the tannins fine, layered, with exquisite final acidity.
Falstaff
Dark, almost black garnet, opaque core, ruby reflections. On the nose inviting sweet plum fruit, black cherry, plus mineral notes, candied violet from touriga nacional, a highly attractive bouquet with many facets. On the palate complex, very precise and straightforward, fresh black fruit nuances, subtle hints of chocolate, equipped with the usual tannic framework of the house, but perhaps a little less muscular than in more typical years, taut and persistent, equipped with secure ageing potential, complex and persistent. It is displaying a rather fresh, one could say, ʺGothicʺ style.

The Taylor’s 2007 is in a rather odd phase at the moment, its sweet, marzipan-tinged bouquet tending to dominate the ripe black fruit. The palate is much more controlled, with very fine tannins, supremely well-judged acidity and a very elegant, composed finish that has more purity and poise than the Fonseca. I would give bottles another decade to allow the aromatics to calm down. Tasted May 2013.
Revista de Vinhos
A powerful, mineral and spicy nose, with beautiful plum, blackberry and cherry fruit. Super fresh and concentrated, with superb tannins and a certain tannic austerity combined with a rare elegance that should develop beautifully over the years. The finish is long and powerful. A Vintage Port to enjoy now, but above all one with a great future ahead.

Serious stuff – just the merest hint of cheesiness but real complexity and almost rough tannins – hurly burly – at this stage. Very vibrant and positive with great length. This wine certainly doesn't follow any formula. Dry – yes, porty – finish. Grown up stuff. Sophisticated and a bit wild.
