Very elegant with persistence and convincing length.
La Revue du Vin de France
We commend the consistency of the vintage and its very classic style, without austerity. This 2021 is not overly expressive and delivers a refined bouquet, with notes of fruit, cedar, and flowers. The palate is precise, full of sap, and ends on a delightful, indulgent note. A very beautiful success.
Decanter
A pretty and fragranced nose, then a sense of true classicism with bright, shining acidity underpinning crushed-velvet tannins and undertones of cola, liquorice and cool blue fruit. Slightly lean but also with lots of Cabernet characters supporting the frame – good weight and focus, with drive. Quite linear and straight, but this works and makes you come back for more.

The 2021 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the vintage's successes, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis and raspberries mingled with notions of violets, rose petals, pencil shavings and cigar wrapper. Medium to full-bodied, with a deep, layered core of pure fruit framed by ripe acids and sweet tannins, its suave, charming profile means that it will offer a broad drinking window. A slightly lower percentage of new oak, with lighter toasts, is reflected in better barrel integration out of the gates.

Blackberries, cigar wrapper, roses, cocoa, currants and cedar create the aromatics. The palate is even better with its layers of rip, sweet, creamy, fresh, bright red fruits. There is solid lift and energy here with a chewy bite of cassis in the backend that lingers. This is a super wine that exceeds the vintage. The wine blends 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Drink from 2026 - 2050.

(Pauillac; 85% Cabernet Sauvignon; 15% Merlot; 13% alcohol; a final yield of 40 hl/ha, well above the appellation average; tasted at the property). Dark, glossy, rich and very classical in its archetypal ‘Pauillac claret’ way. Cedar and graphite in abundance, of course. Bright, crunchy red and darker berry fruit – blackberry at first, then a little raspberry and cassis. This is very well composed, with a lovely evident structure, but it is also beautifully softly delineated and constructed. The mid-palate is clear, fluid and dynamic, with a sinuous shape to the fruit flow built around the more linear core. Long, crumbly tannins and growing acidity accentuated the sense of length and composure. Elegant, classic and very impressive. There is excellent aging potential here too and a lovely bright and aerial finish. The acidity is very well managed and just breaks out at the end to aid the fantail lift on the finish. 93-95.
James Suckling
A refined, classic Pauillac with cassis, pencil shavings, ash and cherries. Juicy and really fine on the palate with silky tannins unwound into a layered, long finish. A refined, elegant interpretation that does not fall short on intensity. Real finesse here. Already delicious, but can hold, too.
James Suckling

What a fragrance, a super-fine nose, profound, with clear blackcurrant fruit, along with mineral notes, blonde tobacco, and floral tones – a poem. On the palate, it starts lean, then builds pressure, the tannin structure is impressive, everything is in its place here, still wild and youthful, but I am sure there is an exciting, fresh, and above all, classic GPL slumbering in the barrel. 2028-2050
Anthocyanes Yohan Castaing
“Violet notes, fresh fruits, almost licorice for a slightly earthy bouquet with hints of blackcurrant bud after aeration. The tannins are structured, dense, and massive with a touch of austerity in the finish. A wine that will need to round out during aging to soften this tannic rigor. A very beautiful bottle in the making.”
