With a distinctive, floral nature, the wine is soft, silky and fresh, with a gorgeous purity to the fruits, elegant textures, medium-body and a fresh, sweet, silky creamy, red fruit, filled finish. This is my favorite vintage of La Cabanne since the gorgeous 2015.

The nose is elegant with a sunny side and controlled power. There's a lovely fine grain, both powerful and delicate, giving it an airy character. We detect notes of boysenberry, ripe blue fruits, and a hint of vanilla, combined with touches of cardamom, roasted strawberries, delicate hints of incense, toasted almonds, and toasted hazelnuts. The palate is fruity with minerality and a slight creaminess that adds roundness and a certain indulgence. This is a wine of lightness and control, with tension, precision, beautiful energy, and discreetly dense tannins. We find notes of juicy, pulpy blackberries, vibrant purple plums, and subtly tart, pulpy blackcurrants, along with touches of blueberries, lilies, and hints of ripe, tangy red berries, as well as notes of vanilla, cardamom, mocha, and fine toasted accents. This is a wine with savoriness and a slight sweetness, leading to a persistent finish. It's indulgent, sunny, but perfectly balanced with a certain acidity, and there's a slight graphite note on the fresh finish.

A blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 La Cabanne has a deep purple-black color and notes of ripe, juicy black plums, fresh blackberries and black cherry compote, plus hints of star anise, clove oil and sandalwood with a touch of lavender. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of rich, ripe black fruits, supported by velvety tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long with a spicy kick.
