Inky dark purple core and hue. Pure and intense nose offering some chalk, black truffle, violet and inky dark fruit. Very good grip and concentration with layers of ripe cassis, cherry, plum and fine oak derived spiciness, a refreshing acidity with chalky grip, grainy but plentiful tannin and a very long muscular finish, great potential here.

The 2020 Rol Valentin is gorgeous. Strong Cabernet Franc accents lend tons of aromatic presence to play off a core of rich, heady dark-fleshed fruit. Black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and grilled herbs all build effortlessly as the 2020 opens in the glass. The new oak is a bit strong, but otherwise, the balance here is very fine.

Falstaff

Deep ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, bright narrow rim. Fine black berry fruit, dark cherry, ripe plum, fine oak spices and nougat; an inviting bouquet. Juicy, ultra-ripe cherries, elegant texture, good freshness, fine tannins, mineral and well-balanced. Very good ageing potential.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Rol Valentin has a drop-dead gorgeous perfume of violets, dark chocolate and star anise over a core of wild blueberries, black cherries and preserved plums, plus a hint of Sichuan pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate is seductively fragrant, coating the mouth with energetic black and blue fruits and a velvety texture, finishing with fantastic length and purity.

Wine Maniacs

Great fruit intensity, full of dark berry notes! Expressive and muscular. The body is filled out with a certain "fatness", giving a harmonious, smooth mouthfeel to the wine. Everything in place to be a "big" wine.

VV Wine

Wonderful nose, dark fruit, lots of floral notes, some gingerbread, black tea and mineral tones. Fresh and juicy on the palate, builds up a lot of pressure, but remains elegant and very precise, the tannins are of very good quality and the acidity is lively, it has enormous verve and finesse, ends with red fruit and juicy. A refined and finesse-rich wine.
