Pingus 2005

Drink Date: 2010 – 2050 | The 2005 Pingus is the most powerful of this series (power being a major characteristic of the top 2005s in the DO). It offers up a perfume beginning to develop some complexity, terrific volume and richness on the palate, and a lengthy, pure finish. This is a great wine that should have a 40 year lifespan.

Falstaff

Dark ruby garnet with purple reflections and a watery rim suggesting some maturity. Intense dark berry fruit on the nose which is clearly marked by new wood. Some background hints of nougat and orange zest, but overall still seems somewhat underdeveloped. The palate is substantial and complex - immensely pronounced in fruit, with echoes of dark nougat. A very powerful finish, with great ageing potential, but definitely still needs its time.
